Some projects end the day they are switched on. This one only began then. By launching our own photovoltaic power plant, we have taken the first concrete step towards more sustainable production of self-adhesive labels.
After months of planning, design work, administrative procedures and construction, the photovoltaic power plant on Etikgraf’s roof today produces energy that powers part of our daily production of self-adhesive labels.
In its first three months of operation, it generated more than 60 MWh of electricity. This is the first tangible confirmation that investing in renewable energy is not just a long-term strategy, but a real step towards more sustainable business.
What does sustainability mean in label production?
There is a lot of talk about sustainability today. We believe it has the greatest value when it can be measured.
In label production, sustainability does not begin with a mark on the packaging or a marketing message. It begins much earlier. In the energy that powers production, in the materials that enter the process, in the technologies that reduce resource consumption, and in decisions whose impact can be tracked.
The production of self-adhesive labels requires a reliable and continuous source of energy. Printing is an energy-intensive industry, and printing presses, digital systems, finishing, cutting, quality control and other production processes run every day to deliver labels that meet high standards of precision and quality.
That is why the decision to build our own photovoltaic power plant was a natural continuation of our thinking about more responsible production.
From idea to realization
Like most infrastructure projects, this one did not happen overnight.
The project was realized with the support of European Union funds through a program focused on energy efficiency and a sustainable economy. Alongside the design and construction work, we had to go through numerous administrative procedures, technical alignments and approvals. Every step had its purpose, but the whole process required time, careful preparation and the cooperation of a large number of participants.
Today, with the panels on the roof, the inverters running and electricity generation part of our everyday routine, all the effort invested is delivering concrete results.
Numbers that speak for themselves
In its first three months of operation, the photovoltaic power plant produced 60 MWh of clean electricity.
That also means:
- 24 tons less coal consumed
- 28.49 tons less CO₂ emitted
- an effect comparable to planting 39 trees
